Applying Patterns
Generate Roster Entries
- Select the pattern
- Choose the date range (1 week to 3 months)
- Click Apply
- YardPilot generates roster entries for each working day
Skip Existing Entries
When applying a pattern, existing roster entries are preserved. The pattern only fills in dates without entries.
Seasonal Changes
Create multiple patterns for different seasons. Apply "Summer Hours" for busy periods and "Winter Hours" for quieter times.
Team Patterns
For teams that work together:
- Create a pattern for one team member
- Duplicate it for other team members
- Adjust individual variations
This ensures the team is rostered together, making visit scheduling simpler.
Managing Patterns
Edit a Pattern
Changes to a pattern don't affect existing roster entries - only future applications.
- Open the pattern
- Make changes
- Save
- Re-apply to update future dates (optional)
Delete a Pattern
Deleting a pattern doesn't remove roster entries already created from it.
Multiple Patterns Per User
A team member can have multiple patterns for different situations:
- Standard Week - Normal schedule
- School Holidays - Different hours when kids are home
- Peak Season - Extended hours during busy periods
Only one pattern can be active at a time, but you can switch as needed.
Best Practices
- Start simple - Begin with one pattern per team member
- Review quarterly - Update patterns as schedules change
- Name clearly - "Alice Standard" or "Summer Full-Time"
- Document variations - Note why patterns differ from standard
Next Steps
- Capacity Planning - Use roster data for scheduling
