Pausing & Resuming Jobs

Pause recurring jobs when you need to temporarily stop service without cancelling the job entirely. When you're ready to restart, resume the job and visits will be regenerated automatically.

When to Pause a Job

Pausing is useful when:

  • Client requested - Customer is going on holiday or temporarily doesn't need service
  • Account overdue - Withholding service until payment is received
  • Seasonal break - Pausing lawn care during winter months
  • Property access issues - Temporarily can't access the property

Pause vs Cancel

Use Pause when you expect to resume service later. Use Cancel when the job is permanently finished.

How to Pause a Job

  1. Open the job you want to pause
  2. Click the Pause button (or find it in the actions menu)
  3. Select a pause reason:
    • Account Overdue - Pause due to overdue account balance
    • Client Requested - Client asked to pause services
    • Other - Provide your own reason (notes required)
  4. Add optional notes explaining the situation
  5. Click Pause Job

What Happens When You Pause

When a job is paused:

  • Scheduled visits are deleted - Any future visits that haven't started are removed
  • Completed visits are preserved - Past work history remains intact
  • In-progress visits are preserved - Any visit currently being worked on continues
  • Job status changes to Paused - The job appears with a "Paused" badge
  • No new visits are generated - The recurrence pattern stops creating visits

Scheduled Visits Will Be Deleted

Pausing removes all scheduled (future) visits. Make sure any visits you want to keep are marked as completed or skipped first.

How to Resume a Job

  1. Open the paused job
  2. Click the Resume button
  3. Confirm you want to resume

What Happens When You Resume

When a job is resumed:

  • Visits are regenerated - New visits are created based on the job's recurrence pattern
  • Schedule picks up from today - The next visit is scheduled according to the recurrence rules
  • Job status returns to Active - The job appears as active again
  • Pause history is preserved - The pause/resume dates are recorded for reference

Filtering by Paused Status

Find paused jobs quickly using the status filter:

  1. Go to Jobs
  2. Click the Status filter
  3. Select Paused

This shows all jobs currently on hold, making it easy to review which clients have suspended service.

Pause Reasons

ReasonWhen to Use
Account OverdueClient has unpaid invoices and you're withholding service
Client RequestedClient asked to pause (holiday, renovation, etc.)
OtherAny other reason - notes are required to explain

The pause reason is recorded in the job's activity log and can help you remember why a job was paused when reviewing later.
